When I wake up early on the morning after the election and open up my laptop to...
– This is from poet Mic Wright’s blog (well worth a read here). I think perhaps this shows the inevitability with which people become disillusioned with politics over time. If the Conservatives do achieve a working majority in the election, there may well be a new generation of 13 year-olds...
Which is better: Tumblr or Posterous? I’m writing this on the Mac OS X dashboard Tumblr widget, which is very cool. But recently I tried to get a photo from a website onto my Tumblr page using the bookmarklet, but it couldn’t pick up the photo properly. When I tried using the Posterous bookmarklet, it worked perfectly…

– I’m not quite sure how this makes me feel. I’m a big fan of Google’s products and have used them for many years. I may even get a Nexus One when it comes out on contract in the UK. However, there is still a niggling feeling at the back of my mind that all this may not end as well...
Jack Straw stands his ground on Jon Venables case →
Despite mounting pressure from the media on Justice Secretary Jack Straw, he has stated in the House of Commons that the reasons behind Jon Venables’ recent return to prison will remain secret.
For those not familiar with Venables’ crime, I won’t repeat the horrific details here, but point you to the relevant Wikipedia article.

The Twitter “Bomb Hoax” case: worse than we...
via thelawyer.com ‘The Lawyer’ journal has today published a detailed analysis into the Paul Chambers “Twitter-bomber” case. I would advise anyone who posts onto the internet either via blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Myspace or any other site to read this carefully. The way that the Crown Prosecution Service now appear able to charge someone for a different offence to the one...

Changes
I’ve just logged on to my Tumblr account using Google Chrome for Windows and noticed that the theme I had been using looked catastrophically awful in that particular browser (Times New Roman? Yuk!). Seeing as how Google Chrome looks to be replacing Safari as my primary browser I thought it would be best to change to a theme that looks a bit more palatable.
Therefore you may notice a few...

Scientific Proof for Santa Claus
On the Christmas cards, it all looks so effortless. Apart from the occasional slip-up with drunken reindeer, narrow chimney and blizzards, Santa Claus manages to deliver billions of gifts on Christmas Eve, maintaining his smile and benevolence all the while. His support team: a few reindeer and a handful of diligent elves. Clearly, only an innocent child would swallow the propaganda. Yet...

via destructingdavid.wordpress.com The campaign to get RATM’s early hit single ‘Killing In The Name’ to number one ahead of the latest release from the X Factor production line is building up a nice head of steam. So much so that the band were invited on to Nicky Campbell’s afternoon show on BBC Radio 5 Live to discuss the phenomenon and to play the single. Evidently...
Silvio Berlusconi has a "John Prescott" moment!
via news.bbc.co.uk From BBC News: Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been hit in the face and knocked to the ground after a political rally in Milan. Pictures showed Mr Berlusconi, 73, with blood around his mouth and on his face. Reports suggested he had either been punched or hit with an object. All Dan, all the time
Perhaps there might be space for Jesse Ryder, to provide some firepower at the top. But mainly to lead the drunken celebrations. And for Ross Taylor. Just to keep things a little ethnic. Sad news today - Flight of the Conchords is no more! Hopefully Bret and Jermaine will tour again soon so we’ll be able to keep hearing some of their classic songs. I’ll post some of their best moments (the ones that I can find on Youtube anyway) to remind ourselves how good a series it was.

Graphical representations of movies →
I don’t know who’s responsible for this page, but the amount of effort that they have gone to is PHENOMENAL! These are graphical representations of The Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, Star Wars (original trilogy) and, strangely, 12 Angry Men and Primer!
Next time you see one of these films, have this to hand and see if it helps you make sense of what’s going on.

Mr Deity & The Identity Crisis
I love the ‘Mr Deity’ series of videos, and this clip is a set of outtakes from the latest episode where Mr Deity and Jesus attempt to work out the Holy Trinity. As you can see from this clip, if two actors with scripts nearby can’t make head nor tail of it, what chance for anyone else?? Anyway, I strongly advise you to watch the rest of their clips either through iTunes or...

How to use an apostrophe
Facebook infuriates me constantly. Mostly I hate it. But the problem lies not with the site itself, but with the people who use it. No, wait, that didn’t read as well on the page as it did in my head. Stay with me. Please. I need the attention. No, what ACTUALLY infuriates me is the poor spelling and grammar. I am constantly appalled whenever I read a stream of status updates. It makes me...

A schoolgirl from California has spent her summer figuring out that President Obama is related to every former U.S. President. All Presidents that is, except for Martin van Buren (yeah, one of my favourites too!). This seems like an extraordinary way for someone to spend a summer, and I’m not sure that Americans will particularly like the idea that all of their rulers are in some way...
